Inciting incident? Unless your story has a unifying element where you can place this incident, there is no inciting incident. For instance, as far as page breaks go, you can just throw that out the window. I don't know any other ways to approach this kind of material and I feel lost sometimes. My take is that you approach it in a similar manner that you would the "conventional" story in that you give each character a goal and have them overcome obstacles to achieve it. How do you approach it? What are the inherent challenges of writing a script like this? What are some tips, suggestions, etc., to help in writing these kinds of movies? I thought I would start a thread that specifically dealt with writing this kind of movie. You're following a bunch of smaller characters on their way to achieving their goals. You're not following a main character on his journey to achieve a goal. I personally love these kinds of movies - however, from a structural perspective, I don't really have a road map on how to write them. ![]() I have read through a lot of the archives and noticed some heavy debate when discussing these types of movies.
