But just because those things can be done, it does not necessarily mean doing them is the right design choice. Both templates and the C preprocessor can be stretched to do incredibly smart and mind boggling things. Things that you can hack with templates at the cost of code size, readability, portability, usability, extensibility, robustness and ultimately design beauty. And then there is a gray area in between. A generic vector container class is easily expressible, even with partial specialization for pointer types, while a function that sets up a graphical user interface based on an XML description given as a string is not expressible as a template. However, there are limitations: There are things that you can easily express with templates, and there are things that are impossible to express with templates. As such, templates are highly interesting to framework creators, and we do use advanced templates in many places in Qt. ![]() ![]() Templates are a builtin mechanism in C++ that allows the compiler to generate code on the fly, depending on the type of the arguments passed. ![]() The film's title is borrowed from a 1959 short story by Ian Fleming. ![]() We're left to wonder if the tribe values our business or does it promote a system of random prejudice as displayed by Ms. For us to be treated in such a manner is appalling and I thought would never happen at such a venue. The main reason we have always used the valet is because of my wifes leg and knee issues. I'm just wondering why we were singled out and treated with such disrespect and prejudice during this visit. I guess it didn't help matters that the car directly behind me was one of those super expensive sports cars that probably cost over $ 100,000.00 or more that she gladly drove to be parked. So I had to park my own car even though I'm not allowed to drive for two more weeks. Dallas had told her that he would back her if she had reason not to park any car for whatever reason. Unless your story has a unifying element where you can place this incident, there is no inciting incident. For instance, as far as page breaks go, you can just throw that out the window. I don't know any other ways to approach this kind of material and I feel lost sometimes. My take is that you approach it in a similar manner that you would the "conventional" story in that you give each character a goal and have them overcome obstacles to achieve it. How do you approach it? What are the inherent challenges of writing a script like this? What are some tips, suggestions, etc., to help in writing these kinds of movies? I thought I would start a thread that specifically dealt with writing this kind of movie. You're following a bunch of smaller characters on their way to achieving their goals. You're not following a main character on his journey to achieve a goal. I personally love these kinds of movies - however, from a structural perspective, I don't really have a road map on how to write them. ![]() I have read through a lot of the archives and noticed some heavy debate when discussing these types of movies. |
